Saudi Arabia Hosts the National Report Development Course for the Implementation of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

In May (23-24), 2022, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Authority of People with Disability, hosted the National Report Development course for the implementation of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in cooperation with the Arab League. The participants included the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Saudi Arabia, the Acting High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). At the beginning of the course session, the CEO of the Authority of People with Disability, Dr. Hisham Al-Haidari, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the participating guests. He also expressed his happiness with the approval of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs to hold this course in its second edition in Saudi Arabia, being the head of the 42nd course of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs. He stated that this course will present the global and local experiences that will contribute to raising the quality of national reports for the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the United Nations. It is noteworthy that the National Report Development Course related to the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the United Nations is being held for the second time, as the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hosted the first course.
