The Authority of Persons with Disabilities (APD) organized the Empowerment Forum on the Admission of Persons with Disabilities in Saudi Universities at the Authority’s headquarters, with the participation of the Ministry of Education, the University Affairs Council, representatives of universities, and several relevant sectors. The forum included a panel discussion addressing a number of topics related to the right of persons with disabilities to education, the educational programs provided to them, and the efforts made to enable their access to university education, as well as to enhance their opportunities for academic continuity and success. Following the panel discussion, a focus group session was held to further explore these topics, including discussions on the admission journey of students with disabilities, challenges related to admission procedures, the availability of academic programs, and the alignment of the National Unified Admission Platform. The session also examined the regulatory, academic, and technical enablers that support inclusive access to higher education. It is worth noting that APD continues to work in collaboration and integration with various sectors to enhance the empowerment of persons with disabilities, reinforce the principle of equal opportunities, and support their inclusion in society, contributing to the achievement of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 toward an inclusive, empowered, and equitable society for all.
