The Authority of People with Disability (APD) has announced that Purple Saturday 2023 will be launched on July 29, which corresponds to Muharram 11, 1445 AH. By providing them with discounts and special offers, the initiative seeks to promote the integration and empowerment of people with disabilities and foster social interaction among them. It also seeks to raise the private sector's awareness of the needs of people with disabilities and encourage them to take the necessary measures to make their stores and services accessible to people with various types of disabilities.

The Authority of People with Disability initiated "Purple Saturday" in Saudi Arabia for the first time in 2021, and it has been recognized annually on the last Saturday of July ever since.

The APD has coordinated with various entities, including the Ministry of Commerce, to support the Purple Saturday initiative by encouraging chambers of commerce, businesses, stores, and banks to participate, noting that merchants will be able to participate without affecting their annual merchant balance.

More than 5,500 points of sale have participated in this initiative over the past two years, achieving remarkable success and benefiting people with disabilities in various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Those interested and wishing to communicate with the initiative team can contact them via email at PS@APD.GOV.SA.

The APD stresses the importance of participating in this initiative from the standpoint of social responsibility. Participation in this initiative will also contribute to the achievement of one of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 objectives by integrating persons with disabilities into society, enhancing the services provided to them, and raising society’s awareness of disability in order to achieve a comprehensive and harmonious society.
